The spring semester of our program, which supports startups with professional knowledge, takes place in the online space. In just over two months, eleven teams will make their debut on Virtual Demo Day. Let’s see who they are!
Startups from three continents and nine countries applied for the first Virtual Mentoring Program of Hungary and the region. Design Terminal has many years of experience in supporting startups according to their individual needs, helping them developing their business model and product. However, the current situation has also challenged us.
In order to get a more accurate picture of the situation of the international startup world caused by the virus crisis, we launched the Startup Crisis Survey. You can read more about this HERE. Based on the conclusions, we compiled a targeted and currently most useful training plan for the teams.
In addition, the spring semester of the ten-week program was fully adapted to the online space. This change has already affected the selection phase: Power Camp, in which we built a community of nineteen teams from around the world using virtual solutions.
Eleven startups were included in the final selection, including eight Hungarian and three foreign companies – Chilean, Kenyan and Egyptian. One startupper wakes up at 3 a.m. every day in order to participate in content-rich program elements. Not only do teams join workshops and lectures online, but they can also get to know each other through networking and community building occasions – morning check-ins and evening wine-downs.
The innovative solutions offered by startups that respond to the challenges of society are still on a wide spectrum. Teams such as Donatero, which renews classic forms of donation, SMAPP, which develops digital moth traps, Upsoo, which innovates the recruitment in the food industry, and Proworx Digital, which revolutionizes sales and marketing with unique solutions. Fleet simplify offers fleet management services to car owners, Sweet City collects the finest sweets onto a common platform, Saffy Water uses innovative technology in water purification.
The Kider App helps parents find the most appropriate activity for their children, BIRD-TECH saves birds from electric shocks in medium-voltage networks, Briefly connects companies and advertising industry freelancers, and ExaMe optimizes study material for smartphones. Female entrepreneurs will also receive special attention this semester: six female-founded startups were included in the selection.
The strength of the program is the mentoring team of Hungarian and international professionals, their participation and individual mentoring helps the teams a lot. Twelve of them will help startups this semester.
The Mentoring Program ends with a virtual Demo Day on July 16: teams will present the progress they have made over the ten weeks online.
